ABOUT BODEGA GIECO

During the 1940s, our grandfather, an Italian immigrant, owned great extensions of vineyards and olives and a big winery in Vistalba.

At the beginning of the 21st century, we, part of his descendants, the Devalle Gieco family, follow the tradition implanting new vines and growing high quality wines in a 16 hectare parcel of land inherited from him.

Bodega Gieco is a small family winery owned and managed by the Devalle-Gieco family from Mendoza, Argentina.

Since 2007, we have been producing high quality grapes for internationally esteemed wineries from Mendoza. In 2013, we realized our family dream when we started making our own wine.

Our vines grow exclusively in our 16 hectare vineyard located in the district of Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, internationally renown for high-quality wines. With a production of about 30.000 bottles a year, we are able to personally cure every step of the winemaking process, from the vineyard to the winery.

Passion for wine, honesty and respect for nature are what inspires our family to make elegant and refined wines.

TERROIR

Mendoza is a semi-deserted area with warm summers and cold winters. Rainfall rarely surpasses the 200 mm a year. The soil is clayey with stony subsoil which favors  good drainage.

Our Vineyards are located at approximately 1000 meters above sea level (about 3,000 feet) at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the well-known district of Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo, famous for its prestigious wines.

The region  has a large diurnal/annual temperature range. During the summer, the days are warm and sunny and the nights are cool, suitable conditions for the berries to achieve excellent ripeness, color  and a good concentration of sugar and polyphenols.
